The Wind River Bear Institute (WRBI) is an organization involved, through its various programs, in research and field work aimed at preventing the destruction of "problem" bears at home and worldwide. Developed by the Institute, these programs are the only ones of this type in the world. This website is part of an ongoing effort to provide information to the public and as a resource to related agencies.

The Partners-in-Life program
The Partners-in-Life program - Canada

This Program teaches bears and people to coexist by using highly trained and carefully selected Karelian Bear Dogs and a teaching method Hunt calls "Bear Shepherding". (More information)

Wind River Karelian Bear Dogs program
This program supports the Partners-in-Life program. The Institute carefully breeds, selects, trains and matches people to dogs in a program designed to create a "magic" partnership between the dogs and their handlers. (More information)
