Special Skills: Grace
is our up-and-coming Matriarch with the fearless nature of a rock-solid
bear dog. She showed her tenacious nature during the summer of 2005
working her first contract right behind our top dogs. Gracie helped
us to keep a female grizzly and her yearling cubs wild and free
in the Glacier National Park backcountry. She also patrolled at
a large grainspill on the edge of Glacier National Park, helping
us meet our “No Dead Bears” goal! Gracie has an amazing
tracking ability and will catch a scent from far off and loves to
take you tracking through the brush, up and over logs, around corners
and digging through heavy cover to her treasure. Gracie is also
one of our best presentation and outreach dogs. She loves to be
the center of attention and handles crowded auditoriums, theatres
and parks with ease and confidence.
Education level: Grace
will achieve her Canine Good Citizen and Basic Obedience certification
during the winter of 2006.
Personality: Gracie
is a true beauty with a ‘tomboy’ personality. She can
be a very serious girl, however, she likes to play ruff and tumble
with the ‘big boys’ and will stand up to anything that
comes her way. Grace is wise beyond her years. She loves to look
deep, long and lovingly into your eyes. You can almost feel her
mind working on her next achievement or adventure. She has a fearless
nature; however, she can melt you with her gentleness.
Special Note: Grace
is the first granddaughter to Wind River’s founding Karelians,
Cassie and Rio. Grace was our ‘new mom’ and gave birth
to a litter of six Wind River Karelian Bear Dogs on Feb. 9, 2006.
She was bred to Yoki (Erauspojan Kuujoki), our male from Finland.
This litter combines our four lines of world renowned Karelian Bear
Dogs. Grace is the daughter of Eilu, born in Finland, and Blaze,
son of Cassie (Finland) and Rio (Russia), founding female and male
of our Wind River Karelian Bear Dogs.
