Please show your commitment to using non-lethal methods to reduce human bear conflict!
Donate Now!
Wind River Bear Institute needs your help to meet 2008 Program Objectives:
- Partners-In-Life Program, Community Outreach to reduce bear mortality, and bear human conflict, and increase public safety and public knowledge of how to live, work and play in areas also used by bears;
- Partners-In-Life Program, Research and Development to validate using Bear Shepherding as a non-lethal alternative to reduce human-bear conflict and bear mortality; and work on human/wildlife conflict; and
- Karelian Bear Dog Program and the care, feeding, and training of our Wildlife Service Dogs, the only teams of this kind in the world.
Left “Hard Release”: One-Year old WRBI KBD “Cash”, owned by Rich Beausoleil, Washington Fish and Wildlife Carnivore Specialist, releases a black bear using rubber bullets and a barking KBD in Washington, 2007. The release is aimed at teaching the bear to avoid humans and developed sites.
The Partners-In-Life Program® Works!
Beginning in 1995, WRBI programs have been successfully saving wild bears and educating the public around the world through Bear Shepherding®, a non-lethal, safe and effective technique developed by the Institute that uses specially trained Karelian Bear Dogs as Wildlife Service Dogs to conduct the work.
We want to be able to provide our services, free of charge, to areas and communities in the greatest need….when they need us! We are seeking to permanently sustain and expand our program through an endowment or repeated, annual grants.
WRBI relies on generous, tax-deductible donations from private citizens like you to fund the “Partners-In-Life” Program. Much of the work conducted by WRBI is done without reimbursement from the communities and agencies requesting WRBI’s services.
Your support of the “Partners-In-Life Program®” is vital in helping protect the lives of countless bears and other “problem” animals around the world.
As human populations and urbanization expand, human wildlife conflict will also increase. The viable solution our Programs offer is: for grizzly bears, other wildlife and humans to learn how to reduce conflicts and coexist on the edge of urban areas.
WRBI NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT!
YOUR TAX-DEDUCTIBLE DONATIONS WILL HELP US CONTINUE TO SAVE WILD BEARS.
WRBI is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization and can receive your tax-deductible donations.
